135 years ago, the story of La Mère Poulard began. In 1888, Annette Poulard opened her inn in the heart of Mont Saint-Michel to welcome pilgrims and offer them a little warmth by preparing an omelette cooked over a wood fire, the recipe of which has endured since then.
Since then, this recipe has gone around the world, and many celebrities have come to taste it on Mont Saint-Michel intramuros.
Also, the candidates for our presidential elections made the journey during their electoral campaign to taste the "lucky omelette of Presidents".
Numerous religious figures, royalty, actors, singers and other world-famous stars passed through the Auberge.
Thanks to more than 700 recipes, Annette Poulard perpetuated the French culinary tradition internationally, which earned her the honorary title of " Mère Poulard".
Over the course of these 135 years, the success continues to grow and to date, more than 18 million omelettes from "Mère Poulard" have been tasted at Mont Saint Michel.
Every year, 75,000 guests come to the Auberge La Mère Poulard to savor the symbol of the place, whose production is admired by all.
The recipe was even exported to Japan and South Korea, where the La Mère Poulard Group opened restaurants perpetuating the French culinary tradition.
